5 Training Tips For Perfection

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Good training practices make a good athlete. Training practices are more than just what you do on the track; they involve how you live your day to day life.

Coaching - Seeking out someone with more experience then you is always a good idea. You should follow a tried and trusted training method, this will immediately get you into the correct training schedule.

Be Open - A huge part to becoming an experienced athlete is to keep your mind open, both to new ideas and to feedback. Get feedback from more experienced people on your performance and technique. You can learn a lot by following the advise of those more experienced and normally they are more than willing to pass on tips and recommendations.

Take it slow - Set reasonable goals. Do not expect to make the Olympics if you are a couple of times a week runner. Setting yourself regular and achievable goals will keep yourself motivated and mentally fit in order that you will continue your training. Taking your training schedule to fast will burn you out both physically and mentally.

Injury Prevention - I don’t know of any great athlete that hasn’t suffered a injury at one point in their career, and knows how devastating it can be. We need to be careful to avoid injury, even one can wreck a season or even a career. Be smart in your running training to best avoid injuries.

Use the right equipment - Why take the risk of training in year old running shoes when it’s recommended to buy new ones every 6 months? Also consider a HRM or a running watch, such as the garmin forerunner 405cx . The garmin 405cx not only records your training session but with its inbuilt GPS can map your exact route.

Proper warm up and cool downs - can greatly decrease your risk of injury. If you do not warm up before training it is ilke driving a car that has not any oil. Your playing with fireworks. Simply stretching or other muscle warm up exercises will prepare you for your session.

If you take these things into consideration I have no doubt that you will have success in for what ever it is you are training and if you invest in the 405cx you can record your progress and save and analyse it all on your PC to map your progress.

Wish you all the best in your next event and remember to enjoy yourself!

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Every speed and distance athlete would be proud to use a Garmin GPS watch. It would be fantastic to wear a GPS watch that can tell time and also observe and report your current whereabouts and projected path. This device will additionally calculate speed and distance applicable to a range of outdoor pastimes including camping, cycling, boating and running. The GPS links to a satellite by using a radio signal. Any Garmin GPS watch can be worn as a wristwatch or, if you prefer, connected to a belt. Another good unit is the Garmin Oregon 400t handheld.

Garmin has some GPS watches which even the most selective customers can thoroughly enjoy. The Garmin GPS watch may be purchased in a variety of useful models, but the eventual selection will have to meet the application and requirements of the customer. Which of the collection of watches is right for you? It is not enough to choose one simply for its good looks but its design, quality, technology and overall usefulness are important considerations. A short portrayal of each model will assist while you are making your choice.

The Garmin Forerunner 201 and 101

The Garmin Forerunner 201, which has been in service for a couple of years, displays its current longitude, latitude and elevation. Consequently, the Rorerunner 201 is not simply for racers, but for other athletes as well. The Forerunner is slightly bulky, which a few wearers might find awkward, but it is nonetheless more sensible than carrying several individual gadgets. Another model to consider is the Garmin Oregon 400t.

Garmin’s GPS Forerunner 101 comes with the same functions and support as the 201, as it also calculates longitude, latitude and elevation. However, Garmin’s Forerunner 101 is powered by 2 AAA batteries, instead of the rechargeable lithium ion batteries which provide power for the 201.

The Garmin Foretex Models

Garmin’s Foretrex 201 is intended particularly for sailing and paragliding racers. Every countdown is shown using a large number font that alerts wearers at each segment of the start sequence. The Foretex 210 can operate for nearly 15 hours on a single charge on its lithium battery. A rechargeable battery is the practical benefit of this model.

The updated Foretrex 101, like the 201, is for sailors and racers because it offers precisely the same advanced functions that help them to show the start sequence of a race. It uses 2 AAA batteries, an advantage which one would expect is useful for racers who would like replace rather than recharge batteries while in the race.

The Garmin Forerunner 405

The Garmin Forerunner 405 is the newest model among the Garmin GPS Watches. This product is called an “enabled sports watch”, and offers the power of GPS functions with a slim sports profile that can be worn comfortably. Users will never again be required to choose between comfort and practicality. The wearer’s data is wirelessly communicated to the computer and by a touch bezel; a single tap will change the display. It constantly keeps track of time, distance, pace, and calories burned, and it is able to actually track your heart rate by using a heart rate monitor. Drawbacks about this model include its being non functional when wet - even from sweat - to the inadequate parameters of its function screen. The overwhelming opinion of the majority of customers is that the more established and bulkier Garmin Forerunner 305 gives a much better performance. The Garmin Oregon 400t is another handheld unit that you might want to look at.

Every Garmin GPS watch is a valuable gift to world of sports. A Garmin GPS watch is technology’s solution to the preferences of racers who rely on its accuracy and reliability as a watch and GPS device. On the whole, the Garmin GPS watch may even claim some credit for any racer’s improved success in his competition of choice.
